Kovalam
Means a grove of coconut trees and true to its name the village offers an endless sight of coconut trees. The crescent-shaped beach has three parts. The southern most beach, and the most popular, is light house beach. It offers an amazing sight of Vizhinjam mosque. The northern Samudra is a laidback one and time seems stands still here. The middle, hawah, in the early day, is a beehive of activities with fishermen setting out for sea. With a high rock promontory and a calm bay of blue waters, this beach paradise creates a unique aquarelle on moonlit nights.
Azure water and favorable climate make Kovalam a favorite year-round spot for swimming. Sea here is pacific and shallow where you can take a dip in the saline waters. The clean white sandy beach will arouse a temptation irresistible: to lie idle on the sands and tan your body. Kovalam is just 16 kms away from Trivandrum.Today Kovalam beach is known as the "Paradise of the South".

Shankumugham Beach
The vast stretch of white sand and the serene atmosphere, away from the crowd in the city, provide all the ingredients for relaxation and for spending an ideal evening. There is also a “Star Fish Restaurant” with eating kiosks and open air theatre with car parking facilities. The Indian Coffee House, just across the beach, which is also a vantage point for enjoying the sunset. The beach is noted for its cleanliness.
The sculpture of Jalakanyaka - Mermaid by Kanayi Kunhiraman is an added attraction. This giant statue is more than 35m long. The military airport of the Southern Air Command of the Indian Air Force is situated at Shangumukham.

Veli Tourist Village
The long undulating shoreline of Kerala is broken by lagoons that merge into inland lakes to form some of the most picturesque picnic spots. One such is the Veli lagoon, separated from the Arabian sea by a narrow sand bar. The Veli Tourist Village, built at the point where the lagoon meets the Arabian Sea is replete with fish ponds, wading pools and landscaped gardens, along with facilities for boating and water sports and a children's park around the floating bridge that connects the village to the beach. The youth hostel takes care of your food and accommodation at Veli.

Varkala
A Hindu centre of pilgrimage. High cliffs with rich mineral springs rise majestically from the coastline. It's a beautiful beach that has more than 2000 year old shrine of Lord Vishnu. Varkala beach is rich in mineral water springs that are known for their medicinal value. A dip in the holy waters of Varkala beach is believed to purge the body and the soul of all the sins hence the name 'Papanashini' for this shore. Another major landmark in Varkala is the Sivagiri Mutt, established by the great social reformer Sree Narayana Guru. The hill-top mausoleum of Sree Narayana Guru is one of the most famous monuments in Kerala.

Neyyar
Stretches from Neyyatinkara Taluk to the Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu. It is the drainage basin of the Neyyar river and its tributaries - Mullayar and Kallar - which originate in Agasthyarkoodam, the second highest peak in Kerala (1868m). The sanctuary was established in 1958. Neyyar is famous for the crocodile park set up in 1977 which is located near to the Neyyar dam. Lions park, boating on the waters, Deer park, lake garden, watch tower are some of the added attractions.

Padmanabha Swami Temple
Thiruvananthapuram's most Sacred Sri Padmanabha Swamy temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu reclining on Anantha the serpent. The temple is a blend of the Kerala and Dravidian style of architecture. It is a best example of South Indian architecture, with an impressive seven -story gopuram (tower). It is located inside the East Fort. It is known for its Mural Paintings and Stone Carvings and is one among the 108 sacred Vishnu Temples in India. There is a tradition that the God of the temple is believed to have been worshipped by Chandra and Indra.

Ponmudi
Ponmudi (The Golden Peak) is connected to Trivandrum by a narrow winding road which offers a scenic view on the way to Ponmudi. The climate is always pleasant and it serves as a base for trekking and hiking. The tea-gardens here are also famous. Other attractions near Ponmudi include Golden Valley and a number of rivulets and rapids, some even across the road. Located in a rich forest area, this whole place may be of interest to those who are interested in tropical vegetation. Meenmutty Falls is also a famous attraction in the range.
